Hyperextension and Getting Over Pointe Shoes

2 posts in this topic

I am not sure if this should be here or in the pointe forum, so please move if it should be there.

My teacher has been working with me on pushing my arches forward in my pointe shoes to get all the way over my shoe and show a nice arch. I have very hyperextended knees, and I cannot figure out how to get all the way over my shoe and still have my leg fully extended. I do not sit back in my knees, but when I extend them to get the hyperextended line (but not all the way to "locking") they pull me off my shoe. I have decent feet, but not the amazing arches that usually come with hyperextension. Is this a technical issue, or could my shoes be too hard? I wear Freed Classics. Thanks in advance.

Don't go back so far into the "hyperextended line" on the supporting leg(s). Get the leg to the place where it appears "straight" then see what happens.
