Hello Everybody,

I was thinking of Auditioning next year for Sarasot Ballet School and I was wondering if it is classified as a pre preoffessional Ballet school or a professional Ballet school!
could you please explain the criteria for both?
I have seen the terms used many times and was wondering.

Is this a good school it is connected to the Company so you would think it is but you never know!

Also are there any other really good Ballet school in the Sarasota -Charlotte County Areas.

ps... Sarasota Ballet School is located in Sarasota FL.

pps.. If you have gone theyre what are the prices like?
I cant find it on the site.

Sarasota Ballet has a pre-professional school. They also have a trainee program that is run through the school.

As far as whether the school is good or not, you would have to see for yourself. Most schools will give a free trial class to let you see if the school is a good fit. After you take a class, they can place you and placement will determine the cost.

As far as good schools in the Sarasota-Charlotte County area, I would seriously investigate all the schools out there. There is a list of schools in the area in the section here on finding a pre-professional school. If you do a search through the engine, it should pull up the page. Off the top of my head, there is Revelle Academy, Sarasota Ballet, West Coast Civic Ballet and the newly formed Sarasota Cuban Ballet School where the Carreno Dance Festival Summer Intensive will be held. Some of the schools in the area are listed as pre-professional, but some are more so than others. Again, you just have to know what you are looking for and go from there. As far as cost, some are more willing/able to work with students than others so you just have to take that placement class and then ask. I wish I could PM you to give you more information, but hopefully that will help some.

It did thanks a ton. I will just continue checking out all my possibilities. But as I try to pay for as much of the tuition as I can it can be tough some school provide Scholarships such as Sarasota Ballet so that would be very useful.

Just a gentle reminder for new members (and old), it is BT4D policy that adult members NOT contact young dancer members via PM or otherwise off-board: http://dancers.invis...showtopic=45797

This reminder is in no way a response to any indiscretion. The comment about wishful PMing was simply an opportunity to remind everyone of this policy.

Blackswan, I would definitely contact some of the others schools as well as Sarasota Ballet if tuition is an issue. With the current economy, even schools associated with companies do not always have the funding for scholarships. Sometimes newly formed schools can be very helpful in working with students financially, more so than larger schools, and you might be surprised at the quality of instruction. Good luck with you search:)

Sarasota Ballet school is a pre-professional school. You can ask about scholarships when you come to audition. Students have opportunities to dance children's roles with the company.

Sarasota is a very good school. I know a few teachers and dancers from there. Very good school. :)

Every ballet, whether or not successful artistically or with the public, has given me something important.
