My favorite documentaries are:

- Ballerina: about  Alina SomovaSvetlana ZakharovaDiana VishnevaUlyana LopatkinaEvgenia Obraztsova. You see them dancing and interviews.

  •

- The Dancer: clips of a student from the Swedish Royal Ballet School dancing, she is so beautiful. I loved this movie (warning: most of it is dancing though).

- Le Ballet de l'Opera de Paris: rehearsal footage of the Paris Opera company, as well as interviews, parts of perfomances, costume making, makeup ect.

- Prima Ballerina: similar to "Ballerina" but it's about Ulyana Lopatkina (again!) and Svetlana Zakharova (again!)

- Mavericks: about Joffrey Ballet: the history, the directors ect.

- and of course... First Position: about YAGP.

Any other documentary suggestions? I would love to know.

The Dancer is one of my all-time favourites.  The student, by the way, is Katja Bjorner.

That's Dancing! is mostly about dancing in film, but there's a ballet section there, too, and Mikhail Barishnikov is one of the people talking....I am actually addicted to this one.

I love Ballets Russes and La Danse. La Danse is the Frederick Wiseman film aka Le Ballet de l'Opera de Paris.

Just mentioning that in case anyone is looking for it after reading your post; they  might find it under the title La Danse.
