How To: Change my display name?

Recommended Posts

Is there any hope of changing my display name before I am stuck with it forever? I can't re-register because I only have one "valid" e-mail address through my university.

Board policy suggests that adults should use their real name, so that gives some further support to my request to have it changed. :blushing: Preferably to 'Sanya', as that name is still available both as a username and a display name.

Help? :)

Sorry, Villette, but we do not change names unless there is some urgently important reason for it, such as a safety factor or anonymity. Also, I do not believe that our board policy recommends using real name. It is an option, but, to my knowledge, not recommended. Most of our adults do not use their real names.

what if you cancel your current account under this e-mail address and then create a new one using the same addres

is that allowed?

The problem is, you can't cancel your account, and we Administrators won't, except for the pressing reasons of personal security cited above.

:P Well, dang. Sad day!

The policy board does in fact say:

When you register, you will be asked to choose a user name. This name will appear on every post you make. For adults, we'd prefer you to use your real name, although we will accept screen names. For teens, it's best to use a screen name.

Villette, thank you for pointing that out. That was written back in 2001, and I honestly did not know it said that. Back then things were a bit different, and we have since learned that it is really better to use a screen name, unless you have no problem with not being anonymous. I have changed the wording in that policy.

Sure thing! :)

Here's a query, though -- can I register using my parents' email address through our ISP? I don't know if there is a lot of business to be conducted via e-mail for the forum, so maybe that would not be very convenient...?

You cannot have two registrations. If you want me to delete your registration, you may register again. Emails are sent to you when someone has posted to a thread which you started or one to which you have responded. It is also very important for Administrators to be able to reach you if we need to do so for any reason.

I think that would solve my whole problem. Wouldn't it? :) I'd appreciate it, if you don't mind!

I also need help on this topic. When I post, I see my full name?I've tried to change it under signature but it didn't work.

How can I change this?

You will need to send two or three choices for your display name to Contact Us. I will make the change for you.
