Ballet Schools in Arizona--Tuscon

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have searched the topic preprofessional schools in AZ and have noticed only Phoenix schools listed. My dd is 14 and currently attends an excellent pre pro school in the northeast. She aspires to go professional. My husband may take a job in Tucson. Does anyone know of a good pre pro ballet school in Tucson? We are considering letting her board in the future but she is only 14 and we're not ready just yet. Thank you.

You could look into Ballet Arts, which is affiliated with the company Ballet Tucson. http://www.ballettucson.org/detail/school/ballet_arts_school They have nice facilities and unless things have changed in the past few years, two big studios and live accompaniment. I can't speak for the state of the student body at the moment, but when I was a teen-ager auditioning for SIs, many of their students were awarded scholarships across the board, and to big names too.

I'd second Ballet Arts, whose director is Mary Beth Cabana. A couple other options are the Academy of Ballet, http://www.academyofballetintucson.com/, affliliated with the Tucson Regional Ballet, and Tucson Dance Academy, http://tucsondanceacademy.com/. As you may know, the University of Arizona dance program is topnotch. Ballet Arts will have an SI there in June. Maybe that is something you could consider.

Tucson can be a great place to live. Hope you find just the right thing for your family. Keep us posted!

Thank you, Glissade jete and Arizona Native. I will check out all of those schools. There's only a chance we'd be moving but it eases my mind to know that my dd can continue with ballet at a good school.
