home school time?

I would recommend for anyone going this route to join the Homeschool Legal Defense organization. https://hslda.org/

We belong. For folks in NYC. New York  homeschool laws are pretty restrictive.  (They are always e-mailing us about issues).

HSLD is actually sueing the city of NYC and there are actually a lot of problems with the oversight. .. it's understaffed pretty badly and they are pretty suspicious and draconian.

I second Learningdance's recommendation.  From my memory, they also have some articles on the site about both homeschooling and cyberschooling that can help educate parents not only about their rights, but also about "things to consider" in the process.

We live in CT and my DD dances In NYC.  Our current commute is 1.5 to 2 hours each way. Inthe Fall she will be a 9th grader. I have looked at a few schools check out US performance academy see what you think. If course CT has zero free online anything. We need to settle in the Education soon. We passed up a significant HS scholarship bc our dance program will be day next year. Hoping to have less of a commute by Fall but probably not likely.  Those that have free online i envy you!!

balletmom13, have you searched such terms as "virtual learning" or "distance learning"?  From a very quick internet search, I pulled up the "Connecticut distance learning curriculum" -- I don't know what it is or if it's still in existence, but I thought you may want to expand your search terms a bit to find potential options for "cyber" schooling.

K12 is an online public school, so it’s free.

Learningdance, I know NY has restrictive homeschool laws; that’s why I tend to shy away from it although I’ve considered it on and off for awhile. How did you manage? Is there any site for NY specifically?

DD is not a New Yorker, so I don't know. HSLD just highlights cases.

And K-12 is not free in many states.  It's a state by state thing
