Grand Jete

Balletribbons

I don't have a good grand jete, but my teacher told me that as long as I do it properly with straight legs, it's alright. But each time I try to push for a better one, I land with this loud boom..  Is there a way to make it sound prettier? Hahaha

Balletribbons the only way to make any jump sound better is to do it better. Since we cannot see you, please consult your ballet teacher however, I will venture a guess that you need to re-work the push off and landing of your demi-plié. Demi-plié must remain useful. Press into the floor as you go down and away from the floor to go up. You need a teacher's eye to understand what this actually means balletically. Most likely you are just bending your knees and throwing yourself in the air. Since you did not coordinate and engage all of the necessary muscles in the initial demi-plié to take off, the landing is heavy and noisy.
