Guest dance4life87
what strength in the mody is needed to do a pore de bras forward and back in releve arabesque in the center exactly? I know someone would need extremely well balance but where does the strength need to be from? is it leg strength and if so what muscles would it mostly be from ? Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Abdominals and back muscles are the big movers in this one. A port de bras forward in an arabesque where the leg doesn't go any higher is an arabesque allongée when the body hits horizontal, and if it goes farther than that, arabesque inclinée, but that's usually reserved for something done with a partner. This sort of thing is seen quite a bit in various parts of Swan Lake. I've heard a port de bras back in arabesque called arabesque cambrée, but I've never seen it written down anywhere.
