Guest ducklingdance
i have a fexible back. but i don't have the strength to hold it when i bend backwards. i can go all the way down to touch the floor. i can bring myself back to standing without help. but what can i do to strengthen it so that i can hold it at 90degrees without showing strain? Guest IrishKitri
Although I am a bit confused by your description, I would suggest to really train your stomach muscles. Then when you do a backbend, really tighten them and it should help you to hold yourself. Sorry if that wasn´t too much of a help :-) IrishKitri Link to comment
Mel Johnson
IrishKitri is correct. In order to control movements like port de bras to the back, you have to have command of your front! The abdominal muscles, which go from the bottom of the ribs to the very top of the groin will support and guide you when doing bends to the back. Also, even though the spine bends here, it must be kept as long as possible throughout the entire movement. Link to comment
