OK, Michele, try this search I ran for you:

And why only in September? Remember, the body does not have to conform to the school year.:(

And welcome to the Young Dancers' forums here at Ballet Talk on Ballet Alert! Online!:D

My teacher taught us some simple excercises, such a making circles with your ankles that develop strength. For a variation on that, you could make alphabet letters with your feet (circle them in the shapes of letters).

I won't really give that, if I were teaching your class. Remember that half of that circle is reinforcing sickling in, and the other half is sickling out. It really doesn't build strength, and while I don't scream if I see other teachers doing it, I sure don't use it myself.

Nope, I don't like the circles either, for the same reasons stated by Mr. Johnson. Build your strength from elevés and relevés, tendus, dégagés, pas de cheval, frappé, and just working on your technique! :)

you could do releves each day because i know releves really prepared me for pointe work. i used to do 32 releves each day and you should feel your ankles ache when you're done. if you do that everyday it'll really strengthen your ankles. ;)

Ummm....I believe that I just suggested relevés in the post above.

However, I did not qualify them with a number, as I think that could be potentially dangerous. While some people can do 32 relevés with no problem, others might find that excessive and even damaging, especially if done all at once. The teacher should advise the student in terms of how much to do on each leg at one time, as she/he knows the strength of the student best and, hopefully, how much more to do to gain strength but not injure.

My ballet teacher told us to soak the ankle with hot water, and put a heating pad on it. She told us while you dance you should always put a leg warmer on it. And just dance it off.(remember dance to what you are capable of doing, dont make it worse). Unless it hurts really bad she told us to see a doctor. ;)

Uh...which thread is being answered here? So far, nobody's mentioned hurting, except for aching ankles. I can move this wherever it needs to go, but I wonder if this were the thread intended.
