I want to be a ballerina when im older and i have always wanted to go there! But i always ask her and its always the same answer...no. She says no because its in manhattan and she says she can't bring me to manhattan everyday or however many days. i dont know how to convince her!! she wont even let me audition!! any advice? Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted April 17, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted April 17, 2003 Hello pirouette683, welcome to the Young Dancers' forum on Ballet Talk! Is it not possible for you to get into the city yourself? How far away do you live? I assume you are studying at a good school now, but of course you will have to audition for SAB. How old are you? How much training have you had? Have you been away to any Summer Intensive programs yet? Have you auditioned for any, even if you have not yet been away? It's kind of hard to offer any advice without knowing a bit more about you, and possibly why your parent would be against your trying for SAB. NY is a big state, so you could be a subway ride from Manhattan, or you could be up in the top end of the state, way too far away! You don't have to say exactly where you are, but just tell us how far from Manhattan and how one would get there from where you live. Quote Link to comment
Guest pirouette683
yes i do have great training from a former kirov ballerina. i have been dancing ballet since three and i am now thirteen. my mom wont let me ride the subway alone although im just a subway ride away so thats a problem...yes i have been to summer intensives such as the Rock School and Ballet Academy East and they all required auditions. i have been en pointe since nine and i am in a rather advanced class...is this info better? Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted April 17, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted April 17, 2003 Yes, that helps. Okay, now another question. If you are getting good training where you are, why do you want to go to SAB at only 13? I understand your Mom not wanting you to do subway alone yet, so I think maybe you just need to wait a bit longer until you are a little older! There is plenty of time for that, and a bit of patience might be best right now Quote Link to comment
