Guest mathiskewl
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to take ballet classes around Knoxville, TN? I'll be moving west of there later this year and I'm worried about finding a good place. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Guest fastfeets
Ohhhh I'm in Nashville. Almost a year now. You'll love Tennessee. The seasons are gorgeous! I'll ask around the studio tomorrow and get back to you. Someone there would know, I'm sure. Pop into Nashville sometime. I know a great school here! ;) Quote Link to comment
BluebirdMom
If you don't mind, I'd also love to hear of the school in Nashville that you recommend.....thanks! Quote Link to comment
Guest fastfeets
The Dance Studio, in Franklin. It's a wonderful place. There are adult classes, though the advanced class frequently has a few teens in it (very focused gals....). People are quite friendly there, and the instructor is phenomenal. Classes are rigorous, very challenging, but not without a few laughs, too Quote Link to comment
Guest bunion buddy
Fastfeets, Is The Dance Studio listed as another name? I couldn't find it on BellSouth's website. I'm down the road about 60 miles, but I'd like to know about summer programs or clinics in the Nashville area. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Guest fastfeets
It's a fairly new place, having only been open about 18 months. It was listed as Center Stage Studios, changed names a few months ago. They're not doing any clinics or intensives that I know of this summer, but the summer program is going to be pretty intense, according to what I'm hearing. I've got the number around here somewhere and can PM you the phone number if you like. The instructor, Jerry Noone, is fantastic! He's formerly of Pennsylvania Ballet, and Nashville Ballet. He's extremely energetic and pushes you hard, but you learn loads in his classes....and we laugh, a lot Oh, and I LOVE your nickname.... Quote Link to comment
Guest m_pendergrass
I have been to 2 different school's so far in Murfreesboro, TN and I felt like the classes were not geared towards adult students who were serious even though they were not on the professional track. I have resorted to taking private lessons, which is o.k., however they are a bit costly and I can only take one 30 minute class per week(this is not going to get me anywhere, especially since I am starting pointe work) so any suggestions on good classes in the middle tenn area are appreciated. Guest fastfeets
m_pendergrass, there's one in Franklin that is very good for adults. It's a bit of a drive from Murfreesboro...I'm not sure how far...about an hour, at least. But the teacher here has a wednesday evening adult class that's pretty advanced. The pointe classes are mostly students in their late teens, but I take the pointe classes as well and I'm 33. They all regard me as one of them, and the teacher pushes me just as hard as the others. I can send you the phone number of the studio if you're interested. It's a wonderful place....very challenging. Sabrina Quote Link to comment
