Guest aeangel008
In the June/July issue of Pointe Magazine on page 27, that girl looks like she is in a "albabesque" and not all the way over on pointe. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed? and how that picture even got into the magazine! Quote Link to comment
Guest Dancergal92
haha yea i thought the same thing when i saw that picture. I am guessing because it is an ad for a company. Quote Link to comment
Guest Old Fashioned
It's funny how the ad is stressing the importance of arabesque and can't even show a decent one. Quote Link to comment
balletqueen3450
not only is that an alabesque the girl isnt on her leg AT ALL her knee is bent...ugh i dont get why they would choose that girl to do the add...no offence to that girl or anything Quote Link to comment
Guest alliecat93
I had the same thoughts when I saw the picture.... Quote Link to comment
Guest kime
That's so funny! I was going to post the same thing. She's not even over on her standing foot! The advertising company must underestimate our keen eye for such things!;) Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
I think the picture is catching the dancer in a big hurry, and unable to get to a clean arabesque. So it provides at least an object lesson: Just because it's fast doesn't excuse anybody from good technical presentation. Quote Link to comment
LauraT
Maybe they took the picture before she was up on her leg? That's what it looks like to me. Quote Link to comment
balletqueen3450
i guess so but thats still no excuse if theyre going to have a picture in a magazine they should make it a good one? not that this has anything to do with their line of dance clothing but im not such a fan of motionwear if thats the kind of quality dance photo they want to use in an add...ive never tried their products though Quote Link to comment
Guest Old Fashioned
The picture is of a teacher helping a student in arabesque, but she isn't correcting the placement of the supporting leg or the position of the working leg- which are technically wrong; she seems to be focusing on the girl's arm placement (pushing her front arm far above her head) and the arch of her back. BlackbirdBallerina
I almost gagged when I saw that picture, I must admit. And the teacher looks a little unprofessional herself. How many teachers that you know pose in b+ while "correcting" a student? Quote Link to comment
Guest OCKristy06
I noticed also!!! I just thought i was beign nit picky i guess not huh? HAHA Quote Link to comment
fLexNpOinte
When that issue first came out, all of my friends and I gawked at the picture that seemed to be hastily taken. However, I believe that the girl in that picture is young and it probably is not her fault that the picture "turned out" the way it did. ;) As much as I hate to admit it, her knees look like mine! HaHa. ;) I need to work on that REALLY badly. I must admit that she does seem to have quite a flexible back even though her arabsque does not seem to be behind her (another problem of mine). I hope that this company will take their time in producing ads in the future to attract dancers instead of causing them to scrutinize their ads! Quote Link to comment
