In the June/July issue of Pointe Magazine on page 27, that girl looks like she is in a "albabesque" and not all the way over on pointe. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed? and how that picture even got into the magazine!

That's so funny! I was going to post the same thing. She's not even over on her standing foot! The advertising company must underestimate our keen eye for such things!;)

I think the picture is catching the dancer in a big hurry, and unable to get to a clean arabesque. So it provides at least an object lesson: Just because it's fast doesn't excuse anybody from good technical presentation.

i guess so but thats still no excuse if theyre going to have a picture in a magazine they should make it a good one? not that this has anything to do with their line of dance clothing but im not such a fan of motionwear if thats the kind of quality dance photo they want to use in an add...ive never tried their products though

The picture is of a teacher helping a student in arabesque, but she isn't correcting the placement of the supporting leg or the position of the working leg- which are technically wrong; she seems to be focusing on the girl's arm placement (pushing her front arm far above her head) and the arch of her back.

I almost gagged when I saw that picture, I must admit. And the teacher looks a little unprofessional herself. How many teachers that you know pose in b+ while "correcting" a student?

When that issue first came out, all of my friends and I gawked at the picture that seemed to be hastily taken. However, I believe that the girl in that picture is young and it probably is not her fault that the picture "turned out" the way it did. ;) As much as I hate to admit it, her knees look like mine! HaHa. ;) I need to work on that REALLY badly. I must admit that she does seem to have quite a flexible back even though her arabsque does not seem to be behind her (another problem of mine). I hope that this company will take their time in producing ads in the future to attract dancers instead of causing them to scrutinize their ads!
