Guest AtlantaDncr
My theraband is worn out!! It has so many holes in it i need a new one. In my issue of dance magazine there was an ad about Exercisebands from bunheads. It looks basically like the theraband. Is it any different? Which weight would be equivalent to a blue thereaband? People who have the Exerciseband please post what you think and like about them. Quote Link to comment
Guest AtlantaDncr
Hello... ANYONE??? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted June 13, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted June 13, 2003 I'm sorry that no one has responded, AtlantaDncr. That is highly unusual here, but I guess none of us has had any experience with the Exercisebands which you are asking about. I think most of these bands are pretty much the same type of thing, but the strength and weight of them will vary, and I don't know how you could do a comparison without trying them. I know that the ones in the Gaynor Minden package are lighter weight and not as strong as the blue one you speak of. Quote Link to comment
Redstorm
I know I shouldn't be posting here, but I do know where to get heavier and less expensive bands...let me know where to post, so the info can get out there. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Guest Old Fashioned
Find a physical therapist; currently I'm volunteering for a local PT, and they have bulks of those bands in different weights. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted June 13, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted June 13, 2003 Redstorm, it would be helpful to know where to find them, so if you have that information, please share it here! Thank you Quote Link to comment
Redstorm
Sure...I purchase on line from a company called Nefitco. You can find them at www.nefitco.com You can buy individual bands or bulk. I prefer to buy the roll and cut it to the desired length. You can get the blue band in an 18' roll for only $14.00 plus shipping. My daughter likes hers cut to 6' so we get 3 bands out of the roll. I have heard from other kids at our studio say that they pay $12 - $15 for a band that isn't as long or as heavy. This website has a lot of other excercise items at very reasonable cost. Mel Johnson
And here's a site just for general advice about resistive elastic exercise bands. http://physicaltherapy.about.com/library/w...ercisebands.htm Quote Link to comment
Guest Rachel
After purchasing Gaynor Minden's package of an orange and yellow resistance bands and being dissapointed by the weakness of the bands, I decided to buy bands directly from a physical therapy supply website. I was able to buy an 18 foot roll of the black theraband for $12. This was much cheaper than buying an individual band at a dance store, which can sometimes cost the same amount for a 6 foot band. The site I used carried each stength of band in bulk and offered a two combinations of three bands in similar strengths as well. I suggest searching for physical therapy supplies on Google. Guest thumpinhippo
My mother doesn't approve of buying over the internet so i've got to go to a store. I tried to find them at a sport store but all they had was exercise tubing - it looks a bit like a hollow rubber skipping rope. Is this useful at all? Otherwise, would hte Bloch shops sell them? Mel Johnson
They're perfectly all right. Check out http://physicaltherapy.about.com/library/w...ercisebands.htm It's got quite a few "commercials" on it, but what holds true for one brand is generally common to all. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted June 20, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted June 20, 2003 I don't think that the tube like band works well at all for our purposes, especially feet. They are okay for arm things I guess. I would suggest staying with theraband. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
And, of course, you can improvise your own "theraband" out of old tights and leotards. ;) Quote Link to comment
