Aurora916
I have been corrected several times on one thing. When I stand at the barre I seem to pull my self back using my neck. I seem to put tension into my neck, and my upper body seems to lean back. And this is a problem that has been bothering me for a while now. I am not even aware untill my ballet instructer tells me, "Meagan your leaning back again." Now I am fixing this problem by placing my hand futher forward on the barre, but sometimes that still doesn't help. I'm going to Boston Ballet's Dancelab, so I am trying to correct my problem before I go. If anyone has any advice or help for that it will be greatly appericated. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted June 13, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted June 13, 2003 Hi Meagan, welcome to the Young Dancers' forum here on Ballet Alert! Online How you stand has become a habit, so, the way to get rid of that habit is to create a new one Seriously, you know the problem, so you have to keep focused on what you have to do to change it until the correct alignment and weight placement become the habit. This is done by thinking about it, relax and breathe, and just be sure you are placed well to start the exercise. Keep breathing, and keep your weight forward, and that will help everything. Tension, or excess tension, prevents movement, and that is not something you want to do, at the barre or anywhere! Quote Link to comment
