skip
Hi there, After having pm-ed with Alexandra, we agreed that I could post on this board as well, because I feel kind of in between two groups. I feel comfortable on the Teens Board, but also here (maybe because I also have a job and I won't go pro with ballet). So I thought, a little introduction may be helpful. I'm 19, live in the Netherlands and practised ballet since I was 5. I practise RAD-system and just took my Advanced 1. I finished school and now do my traineeship with Martinair at Schiphol. I work as an employee Passenger Handling (also called Ground stewardess). I love the job, I love the people and I love the things I have to do and last, but not least, I love the airport). I hope that I can stay after my traineeship!! Although I have changing times every week, I want to keep up with my ballet. I hope to get the result of my exam soon and if it is positive, I will continue with Advanced 2, otherwise, I'll take Advanced 1 again. ~SKIP~ Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Welcome home, Skip, and please feel free to post to the YD 16-22 AND the Adult boards, as we set up the elder YD forum exactly with this kind of crossover in mind. With you, it seems to be working perfectly. Quote Link to comment
Kate B
Hi Skip, and welcome! There are a few of us here that have made the transition from YD to Adult and have posted on both. It does work well, and you'll find you make even more friends. Quote Link to comment
old shoe
Welcome, Skip! I took my very first ballet classes in Holland a long, long time ago. I'm pretty sure it was RAD because of the pictures I've seen of the tunics we wore for classes. Glad you have joined us. Quote Link to comment
Jaana Heino
Hello Skip, and welcome. It's great that you've found a job you love, I hope you can stay! It's natural and great that people make the transition from YD16-22 to Adult Dance Students, but it makes me wonder - where do those young dancers move to, who don't continue as adult dance students but as professional dancers? Is there a dancer forum on the board? (The one I'm thinking of should probably be private and confidential, like the teen buddy board, to avoid fans hoarding for gossip? ) Quote Link to comment
Guest beckster
Welcome Skip! There are quite a few RAD folks on this board, but most of us are a long way behind you ! I'll be happy if I ever get started on Grade 7 and intermediate . Quote Link to comment

Guest beckster
Skippy, who sometimes posts here, is another person who flies. She is an air stewardess (or whatever the correct term is) - so I hope she sees you are here! Quote Link to comment
Guest mic31
the airport authority is one client, but others include...KLM, Martinair, Air China, Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, Lufthansa, American, United, America West, West jet...and many many more. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
That could explain why mic and I get along so well - he used to fly 'em, I used to fix 'em when I was an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist for the world's largest unscheduled airline - the US Air Force. Quote Link to comment
Miriam
I can just imagine you leaping and pirouetting across an airforcebase now, Mel Quote Link to comment
skippy
Hi Skip, welcome to the site its always nice to have someone else join us on here. As Beckster mentioned earlier i work for an airline too. I work for British Airways as an air stewardess (cabin crew, trolley dolly, tart with a cart or my favourite dragon with a wagon but NOT flight attendant) and regulary fly in and out of Schiphol airport, it would be great to bump into you there. If i get a nightstop there i will have to let you know via this site or by pm. Hope you enjoy this site as much as i do, Skippy Quote Link to comment
