Guest jazbabe
Hi all... I'm just writing to ask if anyone knows of a good place to take open ballet classes in the London area. I will be spending the next four months there and wish to continue taking classes as I am pursueing a career in professional ballet. Thanks again as any information would be greatly appreciated. ~ Jen Link to comment
Guest beckster
Knock knock - not a young dancer but a londoner ... Probably the best place for drop-in classes would be Danceworks, near Selfridges, just off Oxford street. Nearest tube Bond street/Marble arch. Monthly membership is £40, daily membership is £2. Each class is around £4-£5. If you can prove you are a member of a full-time dance course or are a full-time student (get a letter from a teacher, on headed notepaper) you will get a years membership that will work out cheaper than paying monthly. They have advanced/professional classes every day as well as lower level classes most evenings. They have a website at http://www.danceworks.net/ The other well-known alternative is the Pineapple studios, tucked away down a side street near Covent Garden tube. I've never been there but they too have a website http://www.pineapple.uk.com/ Central School of Ballet on Clerkenwell Road (probably Farringdon tube - I usually get the bus) run open classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays which are quite American in style. However, they may be closed for the summer. http://www.centralschoolofballet.co.uk/Nig...tsFrameset1.htm Further info about summer courses, drop in classes, performances, etc ... look at http://www.londondance.co.uk Link to comment
