Guest dancinbabie514
I have a question.... if I take jazz hiphop or any other dance form such as those...will it cause disadvantages to my ballet training....because i have heard that it can but i have also heard that it can help improve it...... Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted July 18, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted July 18, 2003 I don't think that good jazz is harmful at all, and can even help. I see no value to hip hop. As long as you are getting enough classical ballet training, a bit of jazz is quite fine Quote Link to comment

Guest Terin
I think that a lot of the up and coming dance companies prefer that their dancers have experience in many different forms of dance. Even if you want to dance in a purely classical ballet company, Jazz can still be useful. I've never heard anything about hip hop being helpful, though. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
And let's not leave out Modern Dance! Graham, Taylor, Limon, Humphrey/Weidman, Cunningham and Horton are techniques which many successful ballet dancers practice. And dedicated character classes! Anybody out there dance a proper csardas? Or a good fandango? Quote Link to comment
