Currently, I am competing in the Miss America system. My talent is ballet en Pointe and I'm looking for a new dance. Does anyone have any song ideas? The dance can only be 2 min. long, but I can cut the music. I'd love some advice or suggestions!

Hello luckypointe, welcome to Ballet Alert! Online

I have moved this post to Young Dancers 16-22, as that is the forum for questions about performances if you fit into this age category. If not, let me know!

It is very exciting that you are competing in Miss America. Is it for this year? Have you already competed on the local level? If so, what did you dance?

Your solo really needs to be choreographed for you by a professional teacher/choreographer, or a teacher who can choose one of the classical variations for you. That is difficult if it must be exactly two minutes, as those variations cannot be cut, although most are actually under two minutes. To compete on the National Level I think you will need something choreographed for you and some very high level coaching. If you attend a professional school, there should be someone there qualified to do this, but if you do not, then you need to find someone. Knowing your location and your training background would be helpful in advising you.

Thank you for your quick reply! I have already competed at the local and state level this past year. I will compete again at the state level next summer. I've previously danced to "Masquerade" from Phantom and have a professional choreographer/teacher. However, we're fishing for ideas for a new dance (either classical or contempory).
