hip hurts when I walk

I'm 16 years old and I feel like I have the hip of an 80 year old. When I walk there is a sharp pain at the top of my hip bone. It hurts really bad when I'm golfing and walking so much. I'm worried I'll hurt it worse when dance starts in a few weeks. What do you think is wrong? Should I see a doctor?

Absolutely! Persistent or recurring pain is always a real primo reason to call in the pros. Have your family physician check things out. Keep us posted. It's a little unusual for such mild to moderate activity to trigger pain.

Great! I just had mine, and despite my best efforts, I'm going to live. :D

Hi Notsotinydancer! When I was in 7th grade (two years ago) I had the exact same problem. I was dancing in two of the company's productions at the same time and had a lot of stuff going on at the time. My hip started to hurt when I walked, and it would pop a lot when I tried to make a passé position in ballet classes. I went to my doctor and they said to just stretch and ice it, and sure enough in a month or so it went away. That's just what happened to me, you should still see your doctor Like Mr. Johnson said...but I just wanted to share with you! Fel better!

Notsotinydancer, it was just a matter of overworking! I'm getting a little bit of the clicking again, and I went to the doctor and they said it might be growing (yay!) and to just watch it for a week and see if it goes away. Did you go to the doctor? Just might be good to do, since it's hurting. Feel better!
