Guest joodiff
Okie, looks as if I might have made a mistake on the location of placing this message, Antbobby is not an Adult Ballet Student yes? So I'll open this question to all here , it seems as if quite a number of people who are using his tapes profess that they're worth every penny! So, I'm also anxious to get my hands on them although they're really expensive. Anyone else who have watched these tapes, please DO share your opinion! Hi! I'm not too sure if this is the correct place to post something for you Antbobby......but I couldn't send you an email or message because I'm still classified as a "New Member". Anyway, I just did a search on this forum on Finis Jhung's videos and I noticed that you've purchased his videos before. Just wanted to know if they are really really useful and if you've improved much from using them? (I'm looking for a video to demystify pirouettes, balances and turnout.) It seems as if quite a number of people who are using his tapes profess that they're worth every penny! So, I'm also anxious to get my hands on them although they're really expensive. Guest bunion buddy
I have 3 of Finis' tapes (teaching turns, teaching jumps, and the intermediate 5 class). I would highly recommend the teaching turns video for demystifying pirouettes. I love both of the teaching videos and would think that his art of teaching barre video would contain info about balances, turnout, and the standing leg. I have been dancing on and off for my whole life, but missed out on a lot of technique. Finis explains difficult steps so clearly. He is truly a gifted teacher! Quote Link to comment
lampwick
I took his class once and got THREE separate corrections. Most teachers in New York open classes don't bother giving any corrections to individual students..especially to ones that they're seeing for the first time. I felt very open and turned out after his barre without straining at all. His class was almost relaxing. If his class is at all similar to the videos, I am guessing they'll be well worth the money. From my own very limited experience he appeared to be a very thoughtful, caring teacher with a well-planned methodology. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted September 11, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted September 11, 2003 Finis comes from the same teacher training background as David Howard. He also danced with Harkness. See the thread on David Howard to learn more about this. Quote Link to comment
antbobby
Hi There, I'm really swamped and haven't been to the boards in a while. I HIGHLY recommend Finis Jung's videos. I have 4, will buy more I HIGHLY recommend his portable barre. Finis is an excellent video teacher - not to mention in the studio which I haven't experienced, but his videos are worth every penny. I would recommend that you send him an email, let him know your level, and he will recommend a tape for you. He is great, gives great service. Hope I helped - I'll be back soon. You can email me at vmgla@aol.com - make sure you put the subject of Finis Ciao for now! Quote Link to comment
