Guest mzdancer
Hi everyone, I am supposed to give a 5-6 minute speech on one of my hobbies. Well, the only hobby I have is dance. I have to have two or three main points. My only problem is, what could I cover in the time period that would be interesting? A woman I know suggested having me fit someone who had never been in dance before, that way it would involve the audience more. I was thinking maybe giving an overview of pointe shoe history. But would that be interesting? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted September 24, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted September 24, 2003 Pointe shoe history would be fine, and of course you could show them a pointe shoe, and maybe even take an old one apart to show them how it is made. They probably think they are made of wood I can't think of a lot of other things that can be done in 5 or 6 minutes, except maybe just to take one of the most famous classics and tell them about the story. No way you could cover any amount of actual history in that time frame except possibly selecting one ballet or one dancer or one choreographer. Link to comment
Mel Johnson
A voice of experience here: If you do take a pointe shoe apart for them, have one already pre-sawn and then eviscerate it further from there! "Ooo look, BURLAP!" Link to comment
