Guest meliss83
hi my names melissa, i have posted this elsewhere but then i saw this board and though it best to try here. I have been dancing for only a little over a year. I absolutely fell in love with it. I moved up to a 4 year level and that has been where i have been dancing. I am 20 years old and am currently taking 4-5 classes a week. However i moved to philadelphia so i need to change studios. I asked my new ballet teacher to watch me and let me know how long he thought until i could maybe start point (i was thinking in terms of years) and he did so and he told me that i could start on pointe now, but only for a few beginning bar excercises. I have been told that if someone starts pointe too soon that they can damage their feet and never be able to dance again. I was wondering in your professional opinion, or anyones experienced opinion if you think it is too soon for me to start and if i should wait? any advice would be very appreciated! thanks so much!!! -melissa Radgirl9@aol.com Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted September 24, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted September 24, 2003 Melissa, I answered this question yesterday, and it's on the Young Dancers 16-22 forum. It gets confusing if we have the same question on two forums at the same time, so I am closing this one. Link to comment
