Need strength...

This is my first post! :wacko: (My mom posted on the moms and dads board under my name by accident...)

I need a little help. I got back my evaluation from my summer intensive with ABT Austin the other day and it said lots of good things. The one thing it said that I need to work on is 'needs more strenghth in general'. How can I gain this? I just turned 13 and have been on pointe for three years. I talked with my dance teacher about this and she said mainly I needed more foot and ankle strength to help with jumps and stuff. I dance 6 days a week at my studio. Any suggestions on how to gain strength? B)

Hi Caroline, and welcome to the Young Dancers' forum on Ballet Alert! :wacko:

 

Actually, you will probably gain a lot of that strength just by growing up a bit more, however, if you were able to do some Pilates work that might help a bit to speed it up. B)

The mat classes are very good, Caroline, but, if you can afford the private lessons with the machines, they are awesome! :rolleyes:
