Mel Johnson
Welcome, Coral, to the Young Dancers' Forums here at Ballet Talk on Ballet Alert! Online! At an audition, you will be expected to appear as is asked in the pre-audition materials. Follow those instructions to the letter. If there are none, then RAD is a very sound appearance standard to follow. Clean and neat and in good taste is always the right way with regard to how you present yourself. In almost any audition, except those for character parts, where a great deal of acting will be involved, the audition itself will simply be a class. Take it with that in mind. Do your very best, and treat the instructor as a master teacher; who knows, you might even collect some useful corrections, which is almost as good as getting selected for a part. Be on your good behavior at all times, as you never know who's watching and when. When you get there to when you leave, you may be under scrutiny to see if you "work and play well with others". Relax and have as good a time as possible. Quote Link to comment
