Guest dancingforever
Hi again! I'm interested in Studio Maestro's summer intensive. I haven't heard much about it except that it's very good. . . Does anyone have experience with it or know anything else? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted November 29, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted November 29, 2003 I could be wrong, so please, someone who knows correct me if I am, but I think that Studio Maestro is not a 5 or 6 week program and I don't think they have housing. Quote Link to comment
Guest ballet princess
One of my friends trained there and now she is with the Universal Ballet Academy. I dont have any personal experience there but I hear it is excellent for ballet and it is run by a former principal of the Paris Opera Ballet. Quote Link to comment
kiki
I believe it is a 4 week program towards the end of the summer when most of the larger summer programs are completed. I am not exactly sure about the housing situation but I think they have a limited amount of housing available in the apartments above Studio Maestro. You might want to call and chack up on that! Guest dancergal
I went to the Studio Maestro summer program for two consecutive years when I was 9 and 10. I remember that I liked it a lot... the teachers were really nice and the classes were challenging. The schedule was nicely planned out too... you had a good number (I don't remember exactly how many) of classes every day and a few breaks. The classes we had were: technique, pointe/variations, jazz, and flamenco. I'm not sure if they've changed the classes though, you might want to check. The studios are bright and airy. Guest Tarantella
Unfortunately, my experiences at studio maestro are not very good. There are 3 studios, all on the small side, and one is so small that it is about the size of a kitchen ( a very small one!). It is in the basement so there are no windows except for a skylight type thing in one of the smaller ones (that doesn't let that much light in). I did not think that the classes were challenging, and I found that the mood from students to new students there was very cold. Things may have changed...I don't really want to say any thing more than that I did not really have a great experience there. Of course summer is a different experience than winter. And I did like some of the teachers. So since there have been a lot of good posts about this, maybe you should try it? Even though this is a negative post I hope it helps you decide! Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted November 30, 2003 Administrators Report Share Posted November 30, 2003 I just received information from a Mom on the board that the SI is 4 weeks, and there is 'some' housing. Not totally sure what that means, but I would gather that it is relatively limited. The program, she says, is a nice mix of mostly ballet, with pointe, variations for upper levels, jazz, and modern.
