Guest ScottieGDE13
I am performing Giselle in two weeks. I love this ballet! I know that my topic description is a little negative, but please understand it's tongue in cheek humor... Anyway- I feel very confident about the actual dancing that Act II requires, however, standing there for several minutes during the pas and variations is a definite issue with me! I was just wondering if anyone who had done this ballet before had any tips for standing still and dealing with that pain shooting up your supporting leg! I keep thinking that I should concentrate on something or think about something, but all I can think to think about is the pain! Also, is there some theater trick or something that helps with sweating? This sounds like a stupid question, but I get REALLY hot and red in the fact and sweat literally drips down my entire body. Part of me thinks that if I could stop sweating so much, standing still would not be as uncomfortable because I wouldn't have that annoying sweat drip on my nose! I apologize for the gross imagery, and potentially stupid questions. Krista Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted March 7, 2004 Administrators Report Share Posted March 7, 2004 Krista, in Act II there should be changes of feet for the Wilis after almost every variation. One of the ways to handle this in any of the ballets which require staying in one pose for a while is to listen to the music Another is to be sure that you are very lifted and not sitting in your supporting leg. If your version is not putting the changes in so that you are not on one leg too long, you might mention this to whomever is staging the work. Perhaps they forgot to give you those shifts from one foot to the other? As for the sweating, sorry, I don't have any solution for that. Link to comment
Guest ScottieGDE13
Thanks for the reply! We do have the switches of the feet. That relieves the pain for a little bit, but then I'm just back to wishing I could move again. Oh well, I suppose there is worse torture I could be put through. I will be listening to the music more carefully, and hopefully that will help! Krista Link to comment
