Guest pointe2dtop
I may be starting pointe this summer at an SI. However I don't think my teacher would approve. I know my teacher has to agree. I haven't asked yet if it is appropriate for my feet or level. I dance year 2 at a ballet school and intermediate at a studio. I do a total of 3 1/2 hours of ballet a week. Does my teacher have to say i'm ready if the people at the summer intensive suggest pointe? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted March 9, 2004 Administrators Report Share Posted March 9, 2004 Hello pointe2dtop, welcome to the Young Dancers' forum here on Ballet Talk for Dancers! I moved your topic here because it's really a technique question, not a question about pointe shoes. I'm a bit confused as to your amount of study. You say "...year 2 at a ballet school and intermediate at a studio"....not sure what you mean by that. Are you taking classes in two different places? But then you say 3 1/2 hours of ballet.....so, perhaps it is just the way you worded that sentence that confused me. Anyway, year 2 and only 3 and 1/2 hours a week does not give you enough time to have learned what you need technically to be ready for pointe. And, it is NOT appropriate, in my opinion, for an SI to place you on pointe unless your primary teacher agrees. Quote Link to comment
