kms
I am not sure this should be posted in this forum, please move if necessary. I would like to know if anyone knows anything about the Joffrey Ensemble Dancers under Elie Lazar. How are the dancers chosen for this company? Where do they choose them from and how do they fit into Joffrey as a whole? Thanks, kms Quote Link to comment
cricket
My daughter's instructor's daughter is a member of Joffrey Ensemble. She originally auditioned for the regular Joffrey, spent a year as an apprentice or whatever it's called, thought she was going to get offered a contract & got offered the Joffrey Ensemble instead. She's been with them a couple of years now. She comes in & dances with my daughter's class during her breaks when she is back home. Quote Link to comment
kms
Cricket, I have more questions that you may or may not be able to answer. Does the instructor's daughter enjoy performing with them? Where do they train? Do they travel more than the regular Joffrey or perform with them and how long are their contracts? cricket
I know they train in NYC. They do travel quite a bit. I'm not too sure about some of the other questions. I do know she was pretty disappointed at first that she didn't get offered a spot with the regular company, especially since she passed up a contract offer with Miami at the time. She must like it well enough now because I don't think she's looking for another position. She has been Pointe magazine a couple of times for different articles/photo shoots, so that's kind of neat. I don't believe the ensemble & company perform together, but I could be mistaken. That's about all I know off hand. Hope it is a bit helpful. Quote Link to comment
dancergirl39
They perform in a lot of rural cities to bring the arts out to different folks. I just saw them perform last night!!!! They were fabulous!! Quote Link to comment
