Guest limeymauve
hey, i have a weird problem. My hips crack and pop a lot, and it's usually okay, except for a second's pain. But while my right hip is fine, my left gets the painful feeling that it's going to crack but never does. this mainly happens when i'm working on my straddle or i'm in a la seconde (also when i do froggies) I feel like my straddle is really tight because the left side hurts, and it's not a good "stretching" hurt. i can't relax into it. WHat can I do to loosen up my hips? Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Hello, limeymauve and welcome to the Young Dancers' Forums here at Ballet Talk on Ballet Alert! Online! Since there's pain involved in the problem you describe, you need a doctor's attention immediately. Cracking and popping are all safe until there's pain. Then you have to call in the pros. You may need to talk to a performance medicine or sports orthopedist who's used to working with dancers or gymnasts in order to find out what the problem is. This is usually one that's beyond most family practice physicians. Quote Link to comment
