Guest Amy_Dance
Hi there ! I have a question. The thing is I am starting ballet I am 17 and never took it before .I have some basis from hebrew dance but it is not as hard as ballet. I went to a school near my house with the RAD System which they have told me is good and the teacher placed me in in an Intermediate-Advanced Level and is kind of hard for me to catch up with the other girls since I hardly know the basic steps. what would you recomend me to continue on this level and work hard to catch up or ask the techer the put me in other level? Thanks for all your help!!! Link to comment
Mel Johnson
YIKE! That sounds like placement by age, and is a "sink or swim" course of action. What you really, really need as a beginner is training in the rudiments, which comes in the lower grades of the RAD system. You may be in with a bunch of nine-year-olds, but at least you'll be safe! Jumping right into an Intermediate, or worse, Advanced class is dangerous! You need to lay some groundwork first! Link to comment

Mel Johnson
In trying to do steps for which you have not been trained in technical difficulty and strength, you are very likely to hurt yourself. Link to comment
