little_dancer
In ballet class we were doing grand battements and I felt my quads working more than I usually feel them. Is this supposed to happen or was I over compensating for something else? Thanks Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted April 8, 2004 Administrators Report Share Posted April 8, 2004 Well, that is hard to say without seeing you, but the quads do have to work somewhat in a grand battement, especially at the top of the extension and in the control coming down. On the initial thrust to get the leg up, the work should come more from underneath the leg, with most of the work done by the hamstrings. Quote Link to comment
little_dancer
Thanks Ms. Leigh. I tried that and it felt much better. I only feel a little contracting of the quads now. As long as that is alright then I'm fine. Quote Link to comment
