Guest dancinabbs
This doesn't always happen when I am dancing, but it does happen a lot when i am. I get really dizzy and lightheaded (VERY lightheaded). It usually happens when I do a backbend and when I come back up I get lightheaded. My parents thought I got this because I needed food or something, but it happens after I eat also, so.... It's more annoying that anything else, because it doesn't really hurt or anything but is just really annoying. What do you think it is? Quote Link to comment
Guest dancingforever
I don't have an answer for you, but the same thing happens to me frequently. I literally see stars for about 30 seconds after. I also see black spots and feel lightheaded. What's going on? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted April 16, 2004 Administrators Report Share Posted April 16, 2004 You're bending too far back. Try not going so far and see if that makes any difference. If not, then there is something wrong somewhere, possibly in your neck area. Also, exhale as you bend back. Quote Link to comment
SeaMonkey
Do you have sinus problems? I have bad allergies and when I have a lot of fluid in my head and ears, it'll really make me dizzy when I turn or come up from cambres or backbends. Quote Link to comment
Dolphingirl
Not breathing, and cutting off oxygen can do that to me sometimes (as in going too far back). It happens to me when I come up from a forward port de bras to fast, also. In that case, my understanding is it's the blood rushing back to your head, or away from your head, too quickly, and it makes you feel wierd. Quote Link to comment
Guest dancinabbs
it can't really be that i'm bending back too far because it can happen any time, even when I am standing still at home. Doing a back bend was just an example. dancingforever explained it almost completly correct. I can get it anytime, though. I might have allergies, but I never have thought I have, but maybe... Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted April 17, 2004 Administrators Report Share Posted April 17, 2004 I think it's time for a check up, abbs. Quote Link to comment
Guest Megari
knock, knock (Ballet Mom).....both postural hypotension (when you get up to fast or from standing for a period of time) and dehydration can cause the symptoms you described. Both would be of interest to your doctor. They can both be easily managed with proper care but could be dangerous (fainting and falling to the ground) if left unchecked.. Quote Link to comment
Guest lttl_dancin_meggie
yeah take it easy! And defenetly go see a doctor! Quote Link to comment
Guest waterwerty
I have a similar problem, but I feel like something is ripping in my chest. It doesnt feel too serious, but it is quite unpleasant. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted April 19, 2004 Administrators Report Share Posted April 19, 2004 Whenever there is something that hurts and should not be there, see a doctor! Especially if it has anything at all to do with the chest. Unless you have pulled a muscle with lifting or something like that. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Yike, Myles, that could easily be some kind of chondritis, if it feels like tearing. Not fun at all. Yes, the doc. ASAP. Quote Link to comment
Guest dancinabbs
I went to the doctor for strep throat and I mentioned the problem. She said that I probably needed to drink more, and if that didn't help I might be anemic or something. Quote Link to comment
