Exercise on soft surfaces

Sometimes, I get inspired to do crunches while I'm lying in bed, so I go ahead and do them. I also do some other core work and leg lifts. Is it ok to do these while in bed? :pinch:

Does it make a difference to the effectivenss of the exercises? I do this to at times but it doesn't feel like it achieves as much as on a harder surface. (Plus you've got the added spring to get you back up again :))
