Guest benny369
Can anyone give me an example of a good thin sock to use for over tight wear? I know it's like a thin nylon one, but a specific example is what I'm looking for. Thanx, Ben Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Not only nylon, but microfiber polyester is also fine for ballet socks. Leggs makes a perfectly fine trouser sock in ivory or white that will fill the bill nicely. They're even sold in pharmacies! Quote Link to comment
Guest chucke
From an earlier post of mine. "They are made by Towncraft and are called 'support over the calf socks.' They are about knee high and thin but don't move around at all. The best thing about them is they are available at JCPenney ($9 for two pair)." - Chuck Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Yes, those work admirably well, too. I've never had trouble with either brand, although Leggs trouser socks are a much newer product. Penney's "house brand" has been there forever! Quote Link to comment
Guest mic31
Try the Dim brand they have a high amount of lycra and are very strong but really thin and opaque at the same time Quote Link to comment
Dance_Scholar_London
I just read that you use white/ivory coloured socks. Does that mean you are wearing white slippers as well? I thought one should not break the line with a different colour or is that not true? Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
That's the traditional way to do it, yes. The "uniform" for men worldwide is white formfitting shirt, black tights, white socks, white ballet slippers. Quote Link to comment
Guest kammij
This may sound like a stupid question, but are these men's socks? Can you tell I don't buy dress socks very often? Not only nylon, but microfiber polyester is also fine for ballet socks. Leggs makes a perfectly fine trouser sock in ivory or white that will fill the bill nicely. They're even sold in pharmacies! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Yes, these are men's dress socks, often sold as "trouser socks". Quote Link to comment

Rubber Legs
Can anyone tell me where I can purchase white ballet socks in England ?. Quote Link to comment
Guest tdancer
i like to wear thick white socks, or black depending on the color of the shoes i am wearing. the reason being that thicker socks help "fill out" the shoe and i can feel the floor better and there is less sliping of the shoe on my foot. also you have to work your feet harder with thicker socks.
