Tights

A lot of girls at my studio wear the Danskin Mesh/Seamed tights (Capizo also makes some). I like the look of the seam, however, after a few washings the mesh becomes rough and irritates my skin. Are there any tights out there that have seams but are not mesh? If anyone knows, please post, and where they can be purchased?

Capezio, danskin, um, body wrappers, all have tights with backseams that arent mesh. Discount Dance Supply carries them.

hello! So about tights with seams. I personally like the seamed look- i think it makes the leg look longer. I also think that non-mesh, microfiber [?], tights are more comfortable and look better. I HIGHLY reccomend Bloch non-mesh seamed tights. My favorite.

My DD also likes the seam tights but she wants them to be as "dark-pink" as possible. Are any of the seamed tights also a dark-pink color?

ballethoney- Yep! Microfiber is the soft one!

 

I usually find that mesh tights are darker in color than non-mesh ones. Just personal experience.

I have never had a pair of seamed tights! But I did hear that they were rather expensive , but do they last longer then the non-seamed tights or is it the same length of time?

lildancingchick722, I find that they DO last longer because they don't get runs and if you get a hole you can just sew it up. Well, at least that's the mesh I'm talking about. But it really is just a prefrence.

plie parent-- The new Prima Soft non meshed seamed tights are great. They are soft, and a dark pink, and the pink color has held up until the end. Even with detergent and Oxyclean (which turns many a pink pair of tights to a very pale color) the color has held up. I ordered 10 pair last year before a 5 weeks SI. They came back looking nearly new. And the same 10 pair lasted all year as well. They were remarkabley durable. THey held their shape and did not run easily. When DD was asked what tights I should order for this year--she requested them again. Hurray!! I think they are model 2XX something--I will check. and I ordered them though one of the discount dance catalogues/web sites (not from Discount Dance, they don't carry them.)

Knock-Knock... Parent of an almost 13 year old here. She asked me to post for her...

My daughter doesn't like the mesh tights either. We had trouble finding seamed tights in children's sizes and she isn't big enough for the adult sizes yet. (The adult tights bag around her knees and drive her crazy.) We have been able to order Danskin Convertilbe Backseam tights Style 727 in Theatrical Pink color. Our local dance store doesn't stock them but if we buy three pairs at a time they will special order them for us. They come in Small, Intermediate, Medium and Large.

I'm going to order a few pairs today. I also use oxyclean and found that it lightens pink tights after only one washing.

lildancingchick722, make sure you get the mesh kind if you don't want runs, though, because you can still get runs in the non-mesh seamed ones.

Everyone is talking about actual dance tights. Personally, I buy really cheap kids' tights (only $2-3) and they work great. They don't last as long, and of course the foot part doesn't "come off," but if that's not necessary, then it's not a problem. They may not lost so long, but since they're cheap, you can buy them more often.
