Hi! I am looking for a lyrical solo song. I have not been able to dance for about 3 months due to a stress fracture in each side of my lower back. I am starting dancing again now slowly. I am looking for a solo song that would fit with how I was feeling when I wasn't able to dance. Anyone have any suggestions?

Aly, perhaps there will be some students who can help you with this one, but the moderators are probably only really familiar with classical music for ballet, and are not involved in "lyrical". Sorry, but I know I can't help you with this one.

What about something like Norah Jones? Her music has a very bluesy style, lyrical quality, a lot of emotion. Maybe just listen to some of your CDs and see what speaks to you.

yeah, I've heard a couple of Norah Jones' songs but I never thought about listening to her other ones. I will definetly have to do that. I like how you said "and see what speaks to you" - that is such a great way of putting it! Thanks,

Billy Joel's "Tiny Dancer" is beautiful....tho it may not fit exactly with the emotion you are trying to convey. Another great song that conveys that emotion is "We're Dancing" it's lyrical in the begining but it's pretty jazzy near the middle. Good luck finding a song!

"Tiny Dancer" Billy Joel?

Try Elton John.

Thanks for sharing those songs! I really liked We're Dancing, it is almost perfect for the emotion that I'm trying to convey, but you're right in that it gets a little jazzy, so I'm not so sure. If only it were more lyrical then it would be perfect! And I haven't listened to the whole song of Tiny Dancer yet, just clips of it. Thanks again,

Alynn
