Guest dancer522
It seems like everybody here is really advanced and dancing alot a week. I only dance 5 hours a week for 3 classes at Boston Ballet. I'm in level 5 out of 7 levels and I'm one of the best in my class. (not trying to brag lol) And I just turned 13 almost a month ago. But I was wondering where everyone else dances and how many times a week. Quote Link to comment
Guest dancer522
-because everybody still seems more professional and advanced than at my school/than me. Quote Link to comment
Guest live2dance115
Hey, I am 13 and I dance 5 days a week at McLean School of Ballet and Jazz. (A local ballet school, you have probably never heard of it). I hope to take more classes next year!!! Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Live2Dance, is that the school that used to be directed by Thera Grefe a long time ago? If so, I know it well. Quote Link to comment
Banana Feet
I dance (well last semester anyway) 6 days a week from: 4:30-9 on Monday (taking 2 ballet classes, demonstrating 1, and pointe class) 4:30-7:30 on Tuesday (choreography + ballet and pointe) 4:30-9 on Wednesday (modern, and 2 ballet classes and a pointe class) 4:30-9 on Thursday (stretch and strength + 2 ballet and 2 pointe) 5-7 on Friday (rehearsal) 9-4 on Saturday (2 ballet, 1 pointe, rehearsal) 3 of the ballet classes were lower levels. 2-3 ballet classes I took on pointe. All ballet and modern classes were 1.5 hours, choreography was 1 hr, pointe is 1/2 hr. and stretch and strength was 45 minutes. I dance at Jordan College Academy of Dance in Indianapolis. Guest devion101
I dance 6 days a week at Bainbridge Ballet School. I'm the best dancer in my class (highest level), seriously , so it can be boring, but I love to dance. Quote Link to comment
Guest pbtangel
Hey, it varies for me in my dancing schedule. On regular weeks, like when we are not practicing for a performance or something like that, I usually dance Monday-Thursday, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. But when performances come around the corner, It's classes Monday-Friday 5:00p.m.-9:00p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., and sometimes Sundays 12:00 p.m.-5:00p.m. I am in level 6 out of 7 levels. My teachers are Kimmiary Williams and Jacob Rice and they came from like PBT and they are really serious about it. It's hard work. I dance at a local place called Southold Dance Theatre. Guest serenade389
I dance 6 days a week (used to be the entire week when I was rehearsing for a performance this past March and April). I take a total of 8 classes per week: On Monday, I have a 2 hour ballet class, followed by a 1.5 hour jazz class. On Tuesday, I have a 2 hour ballet class. On Wednesday, I have a 2 hour ballet class. On Thursday, I take a 1.5 hour jazz class. On Friday, I have a 1 hour private. On Saturday, I have a 1.5 hour ballet class followed by a 1 hour private. Since I usually don't get enough pointe work during the week (only a total of 1.5 hours Monday-Thursday), during my private lessons I do pointe, giving me 2 hours extra, but just a total of 3.5 hours of pointe per week. I'm not really happy with my program now, so I am going to audition for La Guardia High School this September as a sophomore and take classes in the city in addition to that as well. pigtailgirl
I dance around 13 1/2 hours a week.. it doesn't normally seem that much, though I dance 6 days a week, and 7 when rehearsal time is going on.. and then I usually have maybe.. 17 hours? Eck. And it's at Connecticut Ballet.. smallish school :\ Quote Link to comment
Marenetha
I've been dancing about 12 hours a week, all of it just technique except for an hour and a half of jazz, and about two hours total of pointe technique (we used to do extra work in allegro sometimes.) Quote Link to comment
FlexNPointe123
I dont dance everyday either....but I WISH that I could! But I mean.....it is so expensive! Maybe just for me but holy cow! I only get to dance on Wednesday from 5-7:30, Thursday from 3:30-6:00, and Saturday from 10:00-11:30! Thats it! I take 2 pointe classes and 3 technique classes. I am in level 4 out of 5 levels and top 5 in my class though, so I guess I'm all right with only a few classes! Quote Link to comment
