Guest Polo161
I have been doing some reasearch on the rock school in PA. How do people feel about the pre-prof division of the school... either the full time or SI program. I'm looking for something with a good amount of quality classes... anyone have anypersonal exp there? Any suggestions on other pre pro school in the USA i should look at? Thanks. Mel Johnson
The Rock School enjoys a very good reputation among schools, whether in summer or during the regular year. Quote Link to comment
thedriver
knocking at your door. I am the mother of a DD who is currently at The Rock’s SI. She says there are at least 30+ males living in the dorms this summer. She is in 3X and has 7 in her level. One of her new friends is a 14y/o boy from North Carolina and he seems to be enjoying the program. Thus far (7 days) she has had only the guest faculty and all but 2 have been male dancers/teachers. This is a big treat for her because at her home studio there are no male teachers. I hope this information helps. Good Luck Quote Link to comment
gbna
My son attends the Rock full time. Lots of GOOD teachers, some big names, a quality place. If you are high school age they have a program inhouse to get your diploma Quote Link to comment
Hans
What style or method are you looking for? Quote Link to comment
Guest Polo161
I'm trying to become a "well rounded dancer". I'm 5'6 1/2 and i have noticed that my body i very good at fast jumps, turns, and tricks... I'm not sure what style that might be. I have admired The Rock for a while they are one of the few schools to take older (21) dancers. I have the best teacher and she has trained top notch dancers in the houston area for ages, but i'm limited to only 4 classes a week i'm looking for a very intense program. Would anyone say that the rock could offer that? thanks Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Easily. In fact, they could offer you more classes than you could handle! (They wouldn't, though) Quote Link to comment
tsavoie
My son is there now. He says there are 4 or 5 guys that live there in the 18-23 range of age. Lots of quality classes and a place to live while training. Quote Link to comment
Guest DerfDude04
The Rock School, is a great school for boys/men. Last year there were only two men's classes a week and partnering once a week, but this year there is a men's class Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (twice), and Friday, along with pas class on Saturday. Last year and this year both have had quite a few male dancers out of highschool in the residential program. Quote Link to comment
Guest DerfDude04
I forgot to mention, along with the other male teachers of the Rock, starting in March last year William Glassman joined the Rock School faculty. He is the former Head of the Men's division at both the Royal Ballet School and The Elmhurst School (both in England). Quote Link to comment
