Guest Until The End Of Time
I was amazed watching them perform in their performances and hearing about them and seeing how they kind've grew up and the schools some of them danced at when they started out. Ethan, Angel, and Jose. Then hearing about how it was hard for Vladimir had a hard time getting into Ballet schools. It was a good watch. Just makes me want to try even harder. Quote Link to comment

Danny
I can't stop watching "Born to Wild" and I've seen "Billy Elliot" many times as well. Have you guys seen "Children of Theatre Street?" It's about the Vagonova Ballet School in Russia. The movie opens with the audition process and shows students in various years in the school. Highly recommended. The thing with these movies, for me, is that they're bitter sweet. Although I'm inspired it opens my eyes to how young you need to start for such greatness. I'm sure there are exceptions out there. These films stirs up all these, what if's... Quote Link to comment

Guest Until The End Of Time
Are there any more movies similiar or anything else????? Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Ernest, it sounds like you could use a good search on "ballet" in amazon.com! When you search Children of Theater Street, you may find several other movies offered with it. Look into them. Quote Link to comment
Danny
Another good movie is "Etoiles." It is about the Paris Opera Ballet company and is essentially a documentary following the dancers around in rehearsal, performances, etc. It's actually quite disturbing how many ballet DVD's I own. However, in terms of hours of enjoyment per dollar spent, ballet films are unparalled! Quote Link to comment
Guest Until The End Of Time
Mel I have looked in to them, but most of the reviews are opinions and opinions vary from person to person, one person may say its great and then then next person may say its horrible and so on. It seems to be like people on this messageboard know what to look for. There is a Ballet movie I saw at blockbuster last night, I am picking it up today because I want to see it, because last night we saw Sweet November. This one is about a girl who wants to be a prima ballerina and she falls in love with this boy and so on, it seems like a good movie. I don't know the name of it right now but I will when I pick it up today. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
There are standard dramas and musicals with a dance theme, but Children... is not a drama. It's a documentary. Documentaries are the best way to bridge the gap between The Red Shoes and the Fonteyn/Nureyev Romeo and Juliet. Quote Link to comment
Guest Until The End Of Time
The movie I picked up is called Frankie and Hazel here's a preview on it Frankie (Mischa Barton) and Hazel (Ingrid Uribe) are best friends in the small town of Percaucus, New Jersey. Frankie--called by some Francesca--is being raised by her grandmother, Phoebe (Joan Plowright); Frankie's parents were killed in a car accident when she was just a baby. Frankie's mother had been a famous ballerina, and Phoebe wants Francesca to follow in that path. But while Francesca does want to continue her ballet studies, Frankie has also joined the Percaucus Pups Little League team, without her grandmother's knowledge. Meanwhile, Hazel has decided to clean up the town, running for mayor against the hapless incumbent who has been in office for 22 years. I am going to watch it now. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Sounds bloody awful! Quote Link to comment
Guest Until The End Of Time
Oh believe me it was. I guess I got hyped on the whole Ballet being in it. I had to fast forward all that nonsense and watched half decent ballet on it. Noone is living up to Billy Elliot or Center Stage, I liked Save the Last Dance it was urban related and it wasn't all goody good it was real in terms of real urban life of a troublesome life. Dance_Scholar_London
Is Children of Theatre Street also available for Europe? Quote Link to comment
