Guest xox DaNciNg in PiNk xox
does anybody know of any colleges with a pretty balanced academic and dance program? (i live in massachusetts...some where around there?)i'm thinking a little ahead but i just like to look into things. So far i haven't found any colleges with both a good academic side and a decent dance program.(maybe not just ballet? since i take everything) i'm not part of a company but i dont know if i should stay where im at or look into companies or what. I do all types of dance not just ballet and don't know where to go, or if i'm going anywhere at all. Edited August 3, 2004 by xox DaNciNg in PiNk xox Quote Link to comment
Guest veggiegrl88
In Arizona, Scottsdale Comunity College has a very good ballet program. I'm not sure how they are academically but some of my friends go there and they rave about how good the classes and teachers are Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted August 3, 2004 Administrators Report Share Posted August 3, 2004 Different schools have different academic strengths, so, in addition to dance you need to investigate the academics when you search out the colleges that interest you. Perhaps by the time you are in your senior year of high school you will have narrowed your goals a bit and decided which avenue of dance you wish to pursue. That will help your decision. Guest Chedva
*Knock, knock* - not a young dancer; if I shouldn't be posting, please delete. I live in Massachusetts, too and my DD and I have begun looking at colleges for her. The University of Massachusetts at Amherst has a good academic program, and I understand a decent dance program. Amherst College, which is excellent academically, also has a dance program. In fact, there's something in Amherst called the Five Colleges Dance Department, which involves Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges, and UMass Amherst. "The department pools the strengths of these five different programs of dance, making it one of the largest in the nation". Its website is Five Colleges Dance. That might be a place to start. Good luck! Quote Link to comment
