Guest dancer522
When I'm doing pirouettes, I have trouble balancing long enough to do a double. I'm not sure why, because I used to be able to do doubles easily, and I haven't had a big growthspurt either. I have no problem balancing in - somehow I forget the name! - but with my leg in passe, or with the preperation for a pirrouette. Somehow, just after the 1st turn, I fall off balance! Could I be tilted my head when I spot, or something? Any help would be MUCH appreciated, because this really bothers me! Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted August 19, 2004 Administrators Report Share Posted August 19, 2004 I think it's going to take someone looking at you to see what is going wrong, dancer522. If the balance is there, then it should be easy for a teacher to see the problem. It could be the head, the spot, letting go of the placement, not using the back muscles, or incorrect use of the arms. Quote Link to comment
Guest dancer522
Thanks, I guess I will have to ask my teacher when I go back to ballet the 7th. But maybe just trying to do things differently or practicing them alot on my own will help before then. It never hurts to practice! (Well by myself, at least not pirouettes!) Quote Link to comment
Guest dancer522
I got my doubles back after so long! I still don't know what I was doing to mess them up, but maybe I just got so used to them that I wasn't thinking about what I had to do. Anyway, I was practicing them and I just took it back to the complete start with doing quarter turns, then half turns, then three quarter, all the way until doubles, and after that I can still do them! I just thought I'd let you know I fixed my problem. (I should have done that a LONG time age, too!) Quote Link to comment
Guest ballet_barbie72
Maybe you were just having a bad day. Usually my doubles are pretty good these days, (I've been working hard! ) but sometimes they just don't happen for me and I just can't do them for no reason in particular. I hate it so much when that happens too, because I get very frustrated because I know that I can do them, but I just. Anyway, I hope you can relate! Quote Link to comment
Guest probablydancin
I can relate to that too. Sometimes I'll have a really good turning day, where I can do three turns and its really easy. But then I'll have days where I can barely turn. It'll take me a while to get my doubles back. lildancingchick722
I am a naturel turner very easy for me to do triples, but for the past 2 week's my turns have been off. Now i did have 2 weeks off, but I just don't seem to be turning like I use to! Would this have to do with growing b/c I think right now I am growing and I think I am getting a big growthspurt soon so would this be the reason my turns have been off? Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Growing will do it every time. Even if only a half-inch. Quote Link to comment
