Hi. I just joined this board and am in need of a lot of advice. I am 23 years old. I took ballet about 8 years ago and want to start again. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good ballet studio in Miami, Florida that has a comfortable atmosphere where I won't feel so self-conscious. Also, I have flat feet  and wonder if anyone can give me some advice on how to help this and if it will be really difficult to do ballet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Chris, and welcome to the Adult Ballet Students' forum here on Ballet Talk for Dancers!

Miami is a really big and spread out place. Give me a better idea of what part, and I might be able to help you. There are quite a lot of good schools down there!

As for the feet, they will present a problem in terms of ballet, and you will have to work very hard on them to learn to fully point. A theraband will help, as you can work with that every day at home.

Okay. Check out Martha Mahr School in Coral Gables. I don't know about her adult program, but she has a good school and is an excellent teacher. Or, the Miami Conservatory in South Miami, right off of Red Road in the heart of S. Miami, not far from the University.
