Guest Until The End Of Time
I am trying to find some new ones. I heard about the new Blochs that have a elastic arch. I also heard about other brands like Grinhsko's Capezio is out of my list, I dont' like them, except for dancebelts. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Soft shoes are all pretty much alike. You can try what you like, but you won't find a lot of difference in them. But then again, sometimes, just that little difference makes ALL the difference! Quote Link to comment
Guest Until The End Of Time
I heard about the Bloch's that are all leather with a canvas arch, to improve the arch look. I do not like the idea of canvas for some reason. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Some makers have soft shoes with nylon expansion panels in the sides to make the shoes conform to the shape of the pointed foot. Nylon isn't canvas. Quote Link to comment
Guest Until The End Of Time
I must've misread the information on the slippers, I apologize. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
No need; I don't doubt that somewhere out there, there's a shoe with a canvas "midriff". The variety of products available today compared to when I was a student is just dizzying! Quote Link to comment
ashatNYU
I must've misread the information on the slippers, I apologize. Knock, knock ... UTEOT - I used to have a pair of these slippers and think they are a very good option for someone who likes leather and needs a little arch enhancement (hey - don't we all! ). I cannot for the life of me remember who makes them (capezio?), but I'd say go for it and try them out! Quote Link to comment
Guest mic31
I use Angelo Luzio mostly. They are made of stretch canvas. They give you an excellent fit. You just have to watch the pleating under the metatarsals, it tends to be lumpy in some and not in others Quote Link to comment
Guest Until The End Of Time
http://www.blochworld.com/product/producti...m?productid=218 Description: The original Bloch split sole ballet shoe combines a leather upper with a soft and flexible canvas arch insert which won't stretch out of shape. It features an elastic drawstring, cotton lining and suede leather sock lining. Those were the ones I was talking about Mel, I guess I didn't misread it. Quote Link to comment

Guest mic31
I have tried Grishko's in the past. the leather split sole is really good. They have a really wierd cut to the vamp of the shoe though...kind of a V shape Quote Link to comment
Guest Until The End Of Time
oh, I have never seen a pair of those anyplace maybe because WNY has horrible dance shops. > Quote Link to comment
Guest mic31
Wierd, Grishko North America is based out of Pennsylvania, not that far away. They are very high quality shoes. Quote Link to comment
2 Left Feet
If you've got a narrow foot, Russian Pointe makes a mens canvas split sole slipper that fits like a glove. The vamp and cut make your feet look really good and there's absolutely no "gather" problem with excess material in the arch. They make wide sizes but they don't fit anywhere near as well as the regular, narrow sizes. Word of caution, don't order them and try to shove your foot into a pair thats too narrow. They don't give much and they'll cramp your toes. I've been using Capezio Romeos for about a year and a half. The leathers are very comfortable, fit well right out of the box and have little or no excess material gathered in the arch or under the ball of the foot when you point your toes. One pair lasts forever if you're dancing on marley and don't use rosin. They've recently released a new version in canvas. I have yet to try that one one. Quote Link to comment
Mr Robin
...and if you've got a wide foot, try Gamba or Bloch who both make wide as well as regular fittings. The Gambas have a deeper vamp than the Blochs, which I prefer, and the shape of the last is rather different. I started with the Blochs which were ok for my feet, then found that the Gamba were a pretty perfect fit. I've got both the leather (with a canvas arch) and the canvas, but almost always use the canvas as the floors at my studio are a bit sticky for leather! The canvas last very well - my two pairs (black and white) are just starting to show wear after a year of good use. Quote Link to comment
