Guest SeraAmadis
Hello, I am 15 and have recently started ballet. I am enjoying it very much, with the exception of one thing: my heels and ankles tend to crack, particularly in jumps and rising from a demi-plie. It's been happening less since I've started ballet, but it's still extremely annoying and rather embarrassing. Is there something I can do to make this stop? Will I outgrow it, or is it just something that needs strengthening and will slowly disappear with practice? We're going to have a performance in December and I'm rather concerned about this. Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted September 24, 2004 Administrators Report Share Posted September 24, 2004 Hello SeraAmadis, welcome to Ballet Talk for Dancers, here on Ballet Alert! Online. Since you are only 15, I'm going to move your post over to the Young Dancers forum. But to answer your question, I'm not quite sure what you mean by heels and ankles cracking. Sometimes ankles with crack, as they are a joint, and all joints can do that, but the heels are not a joint, so where is the cracking there? Anyway, joints which crack once in a while are not a problem, usually. Most everyone has either fingers or knees or hips or ankles that sometimes do that. While it seems loud to you, if will not be heard in performances! Quote Link to comment
