Guest stumbleine_
I have a question. I read an online article (well, more like a ballet dictionary) that had various terms, include the one I have a question about: arque. It was this that I'm questioning: "Because she is tightly knit, her extensions are never high; loosening and stretching excercises only lessen her natural abilities and make her a straining copy of the jarrete type of dancer..." So I'm kind of worried. I don't want to lessen my "natural abilities" but I don't want to be completely unflexible! Is this accurate? What should I do? Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
That passage was written about 1950. We know so much more about how to teach ballet technique now than then that it's not even funny. Those judgments and descriptions don't hold true any more. Quote Link to comment
