I have had this tape on VHS for forever, but at the moment, my brother took it!!! I'm going crazy trying to find it.

:) Anyways, great version. Should be bought if given the choice

I'm pretty sure but I'd just like to clarify this...is this the VHS with that boy from Home Alone playing Fritz? I love that one!

Nope. This one was filmed in 1977. It is ABT's version from that year and has been on PBS many many years. It features Gelsey Kirkland and Mikhail Baryshnikov. It is a great production (at least as I remember it as a child.)

I don't like the production, but it's worth watching if only because there is so little footage of Gelsey Kirkland on tape. The one ABTgirl23 speaks of is my favorite. That would be Balanchine's Nutcracker, starring Darci Kistler. Macaulay Caulkin was the nephew of Drosselmeyer. Before buying the Baryshnikov Nut on dvd, you might want to check your local libraries to see if you can find a copy and view it before deciding to purchase.

I have had that on VHS forever! I love it!

What don't you like about it, Old Fashioned?

I also own the Balanchine version. I don't like it as well...

(except for the Arabian variation!)

I ordered this for my daughter for Christmas and it came yesterday. This is my favorite Nutcracker of all time and I can't wait for my daughter to see it.

I agree with you OldFashioned...Its not my favorite, although I have also had it on VHS for ever. I would suggest checking it out on PBS (does it still air every year? i havn't watched in a while) or at the libarary.
