This weekend is my studios Nutcracker. My big toe is severely bruised and hurts terribly :) . I'm not sure what to do because I have to dance on pointe every day. Any advice on cures or somethin to soothe the pain for a performance? Thank you :sweating:

This is one that's going to require direct examination and probably a prescription from a physician. Until you can get there, ice to slow the effects of injury already suffered, and stay off your feet as much as possible.

So I should go to a doctor? Wow, I didn't think that was necessary because a lot of girls at my studio get bruised toenails and dont do anything about it. Well I doubt that will help to go before Nutcracker, and I probably wouldn't be able to get in. But, I'll make an appointment and ice it until then. Thank you Mr.Johnson

Elyse, you said "big toe" in your title and post, not "toe nail"! I'm not sure if the response would have been different or not, but possibly. I'm sure Mr. Johnson will address it when he gets home tonight. However, there are topics about bruised toenails, probably on the Pointe Shoe Topics and Nutrition and Health forum. Try a search. I think there is an active one right now on Nutrition. :)

The advice doesn't really change a lot if it's just the toenail. If you've got to dance on it, then ice it. The doctor changes to a podiatrist who's used to working with dancers, though.
