tendonitis?

I recently have been struggling with I thought to be a hip dislocation. I always thought my hip was popping out of place and getting stuck. I finally broke down and went to the doctor to ask and he felt around in that area while I was executing the steps that caused the trauma. He said that the Y-Tendon was popping over the hip bone and getting stuck. He put me on a Medrol Dose Pack of Prednisolone to calm the inflammation down so that I could get through Nutcracker. He also said that it was a case of tendonitis. Do you think it could be tendonitis as well? The pain has returned. The time it bothers me the most is taking my leg, either stright or in attitude, from the front to the side. When I bring my leg down I have to contort my body so that the tendon will go back into place. It is most prominant in my right hip. When I lift my left leg above 90 degrees to the front I feel a sharp pulling that prevents it from going any higher. It doesn't bother me too much either leg to the side, but with the right leg in arabesque it bothers me quite a bit. I can not do the splits without an extreme pain either. I am not sure what to do next. Any thoughts?

Yes, indeed, tendonitis can strike anywhere there is a tendon that can get inflamed. Prednisolone and Medrol (methylprednisolone) are both steroids. Follow your doctor's instructions on dosage to the letter.

What you have to do next is rest - shouldn't be too difficult over winter vacation! If the area feels tender, apply ice, I hate to say this, but an actual girdle may help with support for the affected area. Spend time lying down. Watch TV, take up tatting, figure out a proof to Fermat's Last Theorem, but don't do these things while dancing! Recliner chairs are great!
