I was wondering about ankle weights, I've heard that it's a great way to strengthen your legs, but also that it can make your legs bulky and build the wrong muscles. What are your opinions on this matter? And if it's a good way to gain strength, do you know any particular exercises? Thank you! Link to comment
Mel Johnson Posted January 2, 2005 Report Share Posted January 2, 2005 I wouldn't use leg weights, even the very light 1-pounders, except for therapeutic reasons and under the direction of a physician and/or physical therapist. They can easily build legs as you've described, but for some conditions they are a godsend. Those are best left to the medical pros. Link to comment
